Narromine Iris Farm have been growing poppies for some years. We started with a red and pink double/ruffled varieties and added Californian and other types of poppies. The bees then did some cross pollinating and we now have several mixed colours, some doubles and some singles in the poppy display.
We sell the seed to the poppies as mixed seed. There will be several different colours and both single and doubles amongst them.
The Poppy seed is very easy to grow, just plant it where you want it and barely cover the seed with soil. They will self propagate if you let the seed pod open and drop the seeds. Otherwise, collect the seed pods before they ripen and remove them if you do not wish to have a fresh crop of poppies the next year!
Poppy seeds are available at $5 a packet which consists of a dessertspoon full of seeds.
